The woman caught in the act of adultery was brought to Jesus by people who were morally unqualified to condemn her because they were equally guilty before God. When everyone left, she stood before the only one who was qualified to judge her. All judgment has been given to the Son. Like that woman, each of us will stand before Jesus someday.
When Paul tells husbands to love their wives like Christ loved the church, he's not talking about marriage hierarchy. Rather, he is using the idea of marriage as it existed in his time to tell people to love each other as Christ loved us -- sacrificially!
Jesus rejected the "where is the right place to worship" and "what is the right way to worship" argument that the Samaritan woman poffered. Instead, he said that God does not care about that stuff. He wants us to come to him in truth (Jesus is the truth and the only way to the Father) and in spirit (not via ritual or formalism). Revelation 5 shows us how to worship in spirit and in truth.
Jesus is light and he gives light to those who come to him.
The righteousness of God is imputed to us when we put our trust in Jesus.
Faith and believe are related words but are vastly different in some ways. You can believe something without being personally invested in it. However, faith requires sure trust and confidence. The bible does not ask us what we believe as much as it asks in whom we believe.
God wants everyone to find Jesus. Angels helped the shepherds come to him and God sent a star to bring the Magi. Rev 12 gives us a better picture of the event.
When everything is said and done, "God loves you" is the gospel. He shows us his love by sending his one and only Son to die on the cross so we can be reconciled to him and saved from our sins.
Hope tells us that God has a plan. The plan is revealed to us through prophecy and the word of God. As we realize that God is working in all things for our good, we download his peace. Peace is a gift that is based on a vision that comes with faith. As peace percolates in our souls, we overflow with joy. Joy is not happiness. It is a deep and abiding realization of God's presence.
To have peace, we must have hope in God's promises to us. Peace surrenders our desire to control our outcomes to God. It lets God be in charge
The Jewish people read their scriptures to inform their hope as they waited for the arrival of the Messiah. Similarly, God wants us to read the scriptures with hope as we look forward to Jesus' second arrival.
On Thanksgiving, we look at the founding of America and thank God for providing for us. He always provides. That is why we pray, "Give us this day our daily bread."
Jesus tells us to pray for the Father to deliver us from the Evil One. In his ministry, Jesus showed us that he defeated Satan and is giving us victory over him.
Healing is a sign of the kingdom and a means by which Jesus destroys the work of Satan. He gives the church the calling and the ability to pray for the sick.
Jesus declared, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." The process began at his baptism. It concludes in Rev 21 when "He makes all things new."
Jesus is the Lord of heaven and earth and the commander of the heavenly armies!
Elijah went to heaven in a blaze of glory. Preparing for heaven is the ultimate reality and should be our primary focus in life. This sermon talks about heaven.
Jesus began his public ministry on Sept 28, 25 AD, according to the Essene Jubilee calendar. We are in the 2,000-year window. That is worth celebrating.
